This blog is designed to explore the new Fairy Tale Tarot by Lisa Hunt. But since I LOVE to blog....I am sure I'll wander off into some other musings about fairytales!!

"The Fairy Tale Tarot cards are like gazing into that pool. They reflect different aspects of each of us. They illuminate or accentuate those parts of us that we seek, or deny, or just long to understand. The cards and the fairy tales they are based on, provide a framework for understanding self and the human aspects of life. And maybe the "not so human" aspects too....the spiritual. They are the water in the pool. Clear and shimmering, reflecting clearly and yet also bringing forth tiny glimpses of those wings. It is this aspect of the cards that called to me. I feel they have things to reveal to me and I am anxious to hear them "speak."

My Soul Card: The Sorceress

Thanks to Genna over at Aeclectic for mentioning this little gem. Finding your Personality Card and Your Soul Card.

"Add the numbers of your birth date. Any number between 1 and 22 is your Personality card. Then you add the numbers until you get to the smallest number you can get. That is your Soul card.Your Personality card indicates what you have to learn in this lifetime. The Soul card shows your soul purpose through all the lifetimes, and falls between 1 and 9. Hope that helps. It´s from Mary Greer´s "Tarot for Your Self" a very good Tarot book in my opinion." (quote Genna)

My Personality Card is 11 Justice...I'll return to write of that another day, although I've touched on this card already via my weekly draw. It's a good card I think to represent what I have to learn in this lifetime.

My Soul Card is II The Sorceress/High Priestess....I love it!!! My soul's purpose through all the lifetimes. Traditional interpretations wisdom, knowledge, learning, intuitive, lack of patience (I think I'm suppose to learn patience not a lack of it...already have that!), a teacher. Can you believe I left the Fairy Tale Tarot book at work....so I'll have to come back later and add any additonal words/characteristics from there. It is frustrating me because I can not remember the story that goes with this card...pooh...makes me wat to actually GO to work today...lol. Oh wait...the story...can't remember the name but it is the story where the fairy marries the man but tells him he can not strike her three times, and he does and she leaves and returns to the water.

Well, I simply can not think of a better Soul Card....I want to muse on this a bit today...and I'll come back and add to this post a bit later.

  1. I was wondering, where did you read that one of the meanings of the High Priestess was lack of paitence?

One of her solid and long-standing attributes is paitence, stillness and a quiet slow knowing.

Meanings as well....stillness and paitence, quiet wisdom.

I was just curious as I have never read anywhere that that card meant unpaitent!

  2. Oops wanted to add my soul card is 9 the Hermit and I was SO floored to find that out!

I've been reading and learning tarot since I was 15 (I am 38 so a long time!) and the Hermit always came up for me again and again, so much so I would get frutrated and annoyed. Especially when I was younger.

My personality card is the Moon....how is cool is that? Strange in a way. 9 + 9 = 18.....but it's very true how completely fitting both cards are for me.

I check for your blog posts everyday, I love them, very interesting and enlighting about the Fairy Tale which I am working with as well.

  3. The lack of patience sort of puzzled me too because it doesn't seem to fit with the other words. It was in my deck notebook ...a printed page from themysticeye.com I printed it off because it lists all the basic tarot card meanings and I am trying to learn them...but maybe it is a mistake...because under the reverse meanings it does list lack of understanding so maybe the lack of patience is suppose to be a reverse meaning. ??? I don't know. Would that make more sense with traditonal meanings?

  6. Hi Ginger,

What a lovely post! Numerology is a subject close to my heart, especially when it's married with Tarot.

My own Core Numbers are two 11's, a 7 and a 1, so we have some similarities :) In traditional Numerology, as you may already know, 11's are considered Master numbers and aren't usually reduced further down, but can be and so the 11 becomes a 2: 1+1=2

What's interesting for 11's like us, are the choice of cards. We're currently sitting at two now - Justice, as you have already said, but also the Scorceress for your Personality card. It is said that a 2 is a lower vibration than 11, but is still a powerful number in its own right - it is after all home to the High Priestess, and she is just wonderful :) as is the imagery on the Scorceress card.

The extra card comes in with Aleister Crowley's Thoth deck. He progressed the idea of transposing cards 8 (Strength, which he also renamed Lust) and 11 (Justice, which he renamed Adjustment); so now Strength is also an option for us 11's :)

I feel a special affinity with the High Priestess (she also pops up everywhere for me) and Strength (must be all that Leo in my natal chart) and so his idea sits comfortably with me in a numerological sense - astrologically I find it harder to accept, but the man was a genius after all, and I'll stop my questioning of it right there ;)

Thanks for sharing your find, perhaps now I'll finish the post I have on Numerology in my drafts folder...

    Warm wishes,

  7. Hi OwdScrat,

Glad you're enjoying the Numerology, I wondered if you'd looked closer at the number 9 and the Hermit?

**My personality card is the Moon....how is cool is that? Strange in a way. 9 + 9 = 18.....but it's very true how completely fitting both cards are for me.**

    9 + 9 = 18, very true :)It also becomes this:

    1 + 8 = 9 !!

You can't get away from that Hermit if you tried!

Nines always go back to 9's, you can't escape it - universally, 9 is considered a magical and very important number, so there are many positives to it, as well as a deep lesson there for you. I wonder if the Hermit (or embodying him) is the way to find the answers to the mysteries held for you by the Moon? Just a thought.

    Warm wishes,

  8. TarotElements, thanks for stopping by...Yes I knew 11 was "special" but not all the ins and outs of it. I do have a question if you don't mind. I was trying to figure the personality and soul card for my daughter....date of birth 12-21-1989...and when I do it it comes up as 33...3+3=6 So with this method would her personality and soul card both be the same. The directions I used said the personality card would be in the Major Arcana while the soul card would be up through nine. So can't use the 33 ...reduce it to six but then both are the same. Would that be right? Does that mean anything?

By the way love your article on The Four Elements and Tarot Aces......I read it several days ago while surfing the web. I do hope you get that numerology post up...lol

  9. Hi Ginger,

The Master numbers that numerologists hold as special are:

    11 - the illuminator
    22 - the master builder
    33 - the master teacher

Some other numerologists extend that list, 44, 55 etc.

With respect to Miss Greer, in pure numerology, your Personality number is calculated from the consonants of your name.

Adding up your date of birth provides you with your Life Path number (the Soul Card?) and in the case of your daughter, yes she is a 6.

While her birth date adds up to 33, the numerological method for acknowledging a 'true' 33 is a little complicated and the window actually having a 'true' 33 is small.

I think what's important to remember when we blend two different systems, ie, Tarot and Numerology, is that we are using a little creative licence; though I find the two topics compliment each other very well.

What does work well (and something I will write about) is finding your Core Numbers and checking them against the Tarot, particularly the Major Arcana. This brings a visual angle to your Life Path, Heart's Desire (Soul Urge), Expression and Birthday Number.

As I said in an earlier comment, mine are 11, 1, 11 and 7. My Life Path is to Inspire, my Heart's Desire is to Lead, my Expression is to also Inspire and my Birthday is to be Spiritual. I'm still trying to live up to all of that! But they say 11's are slow starters and have much more to learn in their lifetimes, so I forgive myself :)

I will stop short of going further as I'm in danger of writing my post right here in your comments section!

It's great to feel so inspired (from another 11) to finish writing my post, so thank you for that.

I hope I gave a little clarity to your daughter's numbers. If I can be of further help, just let me know :)

    Warm wishes,

    Catherine
